Helping Others

Remember those in our community that are struggling

This time of the year is a really beautiful time of connections, parties, family get togethers, holiday music, fantastic food, etc. But another thing that comes along with all of the extra time and financial pressures at this time of the year is stress and anxiety for a lot of us. Let’s remember to help others this holiday season.

The economy has been hard on a lot of people this year with uncertainty, job loss, government shutdowns and the like. More than 5 people in my immediate network have experienced professional earthquakes. It takes time to reboot after a devastating professional upheaval regardless of the reason. Add in the added expenses of the holiday season and it can send some into high anxiety.

The other part I want to discuss is that this is the first holiday season without loved ones for many people. Or maybe it’s been many years since a loss but it’s no less painful for missing them at this special time of year. Family traditions are different and there is a big gap for a lot of people that simply will never go away. One person told me just today that they won’t be attending a party because they just cannot feel festive after a devastating loss of their child. It could be a spouse, parent, sibling, grandparent, incredibly close friend or most beloved fur baby. People are hurting this time of year. Pile on social pressures for festive times and it creates a lot of stress because they are still feeling very sad.

Please remember to keep in your hearts and prayers all of those in our communities that are hurting and struggling. With all of the festive hustle and bustle of this season, if you know someone that is struggling with either of these issues, please reach out to them. Take them to lunch, or have a phone conversation, invite them to dinner, send them a card in the mail. Sometimes it helps immensely to know that others are thinking of you and still see you. They feel pretty unseen and invisible at this time of year. Your kind thoughts, words and gestures can really make a HUGE difference.

As we close in on Christmas and Hannukah (currently on going), please accept my sincerest holiday wishes, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May 2026 only hold good things for us all: health, wealth, laughter, a zest for life, pursuits that make you excited to get out of bed every morning, happy/healthy families, high integrity, smooth road trips, productive careers, and harmony at home. I appreciate every one of you and look forward to seeing what you all will accomplish in 2026!

 Stay safe and keep training!
